Color Calibration with the Spyder5Pro featuring the BenQ SW320 Display
Photo Moment - August 13, 2018
Is color calibrating your computer screen necessary? My answer probably isn't going to surprise you, because “it depends”. If you are doing anything in the world of print… then the answer is a resounding YES. If you're just in the world of displaying your work digitally, then in many cases, you may be better of not calibrating. Unless you're doing video. See? It depends!!

Wow to calibrate the monitor benq ir i have a PC and the monitor?
I don't understand the question
HI, Joseph!
Im looking to buy the BenqSW2700PT together with a Spyder5 unit. Is there any point for me buying the Spyder5 PRO version over the EXPRESS version? From what i understand the only significant difference between the two models is the more advanced software that comes with Spyder5 PRO. I mean, i will be using the Benq PME software anyways right? So paying for the Datacolor software is essentially a waste of money?

Can this be done for playing video games as well?
Hm, I’m not a gamer, so I’m not sure how relevant this is for gamers.
The palette master software is so bad that the Benqsw320 is rendered useless after calibration. sRGB does not write properly and is dull in every aspect when you press the hotkey puck. It also crushes the blacks immensely. I will likely get a new monitor!
Definitely not my experience. Why don’t you reach out to their tech support first?
Use an xrite. Even the cheap models are way more accurate than the spyders. Plenty of pro tests show this.
Really! Well that’s annoying.
Palette Master is useless. It will mess up monitors blacks and won't show the darkest ones.
Thanks Joseph, very interesting, I have been thinking about getting one of those but haven't seen them in action.
Another great video as always Joseph. I don't own a colour calibration kit for my GH5 filming kit. But I'm told that to calibrate the Atomos Ninja inferno I need to buy the X-Rite i1 FilmMaker Kit, i1DisplayPro & ColorChecker Passport Video. Have you calibrated your Atomos Ninja inferno as Atomos seem to think we need to colour calibrate? Thank you so much again for answering my question about the Atomos Ninja inferno with recording with XLR breakout cable to Boom Mic or using the Panasonic XLR adaptor with your amazing " Caleb Pike DSLR Video Shooter "Business of the Business"

I haven't calibrated the Atomos as I don't have the X-Rite i1. I don't see a need for super accurate color the way I use my Atomos, so I'm unlikely to get it, sorry.
Do YOU calibrate? If so, why? If not, why?
