00:00 It is entirely possible plausible, conceivable that I'm actually alive.
00:14 Welcome to photoJoseph's photo moment. The first live three times a week show here at youtube.com/photojoseph . Oh look, I just showed up over here and today I'm streaming from my backyard. Let me. There we go. And testing out the GoPro Her0 y BLack. That's what this thing is. So Hey, Bart Johnson. Greetings. I am live. Excellent. So yeah, I'm requiring multiple devices and there's a couple things that we're going to do here. So for those of you watching live, you are obviously seeing the actual live stream, this live stream. I will leave up. I will leave this online. However, the stream is only at seven, 20:00 PM. There is an option on the phone to capture, to record a high quality high quality version. So we're gonna. Find out what that is. I will upload that separately and in that I will actually integrate a test that I shot this morning and one that I shot the other day and I'll explain that in a moment.
01:04 It looks like a few more people here watching life. Greetings. You're at greeters. Oh, look at that. What is. Yes. It probably should show up to that. Again, just simply Brendan, greetings to you. So this is a new toy and obviously the Gopro Hero7 Black for me and I'm going to be taking this to India, going to be doing some hyperlapse. What do they call it? TimeWarp on there with it and that's what the tests are that we'll be showing you in a moment. And it's. It's a remarkable camera. I to say this is pretty slick now as a live camera since that's what we're using it for. Now. Let me talk about that experience a little bit. So from the, it's a little curious because from the phone you connect to it over Wifi and then you have to connect the Gopro to another wifi hotspot or you can set it to tether on the phone.
01:44 So that goes either way once you hit live on the phone. Oh, and by the way, when you, when you go to go live on the phone, you have to create an event there. You can't select an existing event which is, which is a big limitation. I really prefer when you can create the adventist advanced because that'll allows you to market the event to promote the event. As those of you who are watching live probably noticed there was no link put out before, more than just about two minutes ago, once I was able to create the event and then kind of wait to go live. So that's a little bit, a little bit curious. There's a bird over there that is just making racket and I, I really don't like that. That's, that's a very old school way of doing things I would say. Um, it seems like every other APP has caught up to that now allows you to access previously created event.
02:26 So hopefully that's something that gopro will address in the future. Other than that, it's streaming only at 7:20 PM, but it does allow you to record a high quality version. So again, if you're watching this live. So let me do this when I point right here, if you are watching the live version, that will eventually take you to the high quality version. If you're watching the high quality version that will take you to the live versions. You can do a little side by side comparison isn't going to leave the live version up. The audio is another big concern. So the Gopro has a mic built into it. Obviously that's where you're hearing me through and from all the tests that I've heard actually pretty good, but I can't. I have no way of hooking up a livelier microphone. The other type of microphone you might think we'll obviously to go for, you're not supposed to do that, but if you look at something like the Nivo, Nivo is essentially a similar type device.
03:12 It is a standalone camera that is used for live streaming it to it neither. It does not either have a microphone input device. However, when you're using your phone to stream, which is what you have to use, you can connect a microphone into the phone and the medieval allowed to use that. So I can take a relatively inexpensive rode lav mic, like the, um, uh, the live plus a suit or whatever. Anyway, the Rode Lav mic, plugged that into my phone and use that even though it's not connected directly to the camera and the phone does all the magic to sync everything up. I don't have that option here with the Gopro. I wish that I did because that would give me that ability to have a higher quality audio feed. This also means that I'm very limited in the range. I can't go. Do you have to start at the room?
03:51 I can't go far away and leave the camera up because then you won't be able to hear me. So I really do have to be right here. Um, this getup right here. What I'm wearing my bag right here, the camera that I've got sitting over here, this is all what I'm taking to India with me now. Originally, I'd planned on doing today, Friday my, what I'm taking show, but I decided to do that Monday afternoon because I've got a couple of other last minute things coming in Monday morning. Uh, so I will do that on Monday and I will have a complete top to bottom, everything that's in my bag, everything that I'm taking, which is I think it'd be very exciting and fun and I am looking forward to going on the trip with all this stuff and figuring out what a bit I actually used a needed and what I might not.
04:31 So uh, let's see here. Let's talk about the video, the test that I did and uh, and then I will hit the questions to see there's a few coming up here in the live chat. So I've done two primary video test right now both based on hyperlapse because that time warp it's called in, um, in the Gopro car loans and there because that's what I'm primarily using it for. One, I did a driving test and when I did a walking slash running tests. So the driving test, I tested two different speeds. I tested it 30 x speed and 15. So when you set up the tow, the time warp you can do that, gets to five, 10, 15 and 30 x, I think that's right. So you have different speeds that you can choose and for driving, when I was driving on the highway, the fastest speed, the 30 x was great, it looks incredible.
05:16 And then when I went down a windy road at 30 exit was too fast. I was just too much. It was too hard to follow along. What was happening at that was for windy road and you're driving through the streets like through city streets. So then I switched it to 15 x and recorded the same type of. Not Highway but through the city streets and that looked fantastic. So that was really good. And then. So actually hold on before I do anything else for those watching live. Sorry you're not going to get to see this, but for those watching not live, let me insert that test here.
07:37 You started that. That's the 30 x followed by the 15 x. You could see the difference there in the, in the speeds and Kinda how it felt in the 15. Next is definitely better for those, for those windy streets shows for the city streets, 30 x is great for the highway. So then the next test I did, I did this this morning, I went for a run and I strapped it onto a backpack and it really did not expect this to work adult. I mean, I gotta be honest with Elizabeth Sunflower. So let's get back, reposition a little bit here. Um, I really did not expect that to work very well at all because let's face it, even as good as the stabilization is in the Gopro adult. I mean, I gotta be honest with Elizabeth Sunflower. So let's get back repositioned a little bit here. Um, I really did not expect that to work very well at all because let's face it, even as good as the stabilization is in the Gopro running, riding a bike, something that's a little bit bumpy like this, I figure that's great.
08:47 I've seen all kinds of sample footage but running like there's no way that's going to look good, right? I'm kind of blown away. So first of all, I set the speed to 15 x. 15 x was great for walking. So I walked for the first part of the run. I'm in my little warmup and that looks fantastic and then what's the sort of running it is remarkably smooth but it's too fast, so I would say for running it would probably do better to turn it down a little bit maybe to the 10 x or one of the other settings, so I'd have to play with that a little bit, but I don't plan on using this for running so it's. That's really not that important. I'm not gonna bother testing it right now, but it's good to know that 15 x for a run is too much. Now you'll see when you see the test footage that the camera did go quite at an angle, which was obviously something I would have to if I was going to do this all the time. You have to keep an eye on it, making sure that I've got it leveled out and straight on the backpack strap, whatever it is, because at an angle crew it doesn't look that good, but let me drop that footage in right here and you can see for yourself right now.
10:44 Okay.
10:44 Again, those of you who are watching live didn't get to see that, but those watching not live. There you go. So that's that. That's, that's the stuff that I've got right now. I'm really excited to take this with me on the trip. I'm shooting, shooting everything on this trip at ADP. I'm not going to shoot four k because I know I'm going to want to do a lot of slow motion. I'll talk more about this on Monday as well, but I'm going to do a lot of slow motion stuff. I'm going to try to upload from the road and so, um, I figured I'm just going to shoot 10 80 p that allows me some more options at the Gopro. Lots more options with the lumix cameras. And so that's just what I'm going to do for that trip. So let's, let's jump into the q and a real quick and see what's going on in here or Johnson.
11:18 Good morning says, is it using the youtube app? No, I am not using youtube ads. This is the GOPRO APP itself. So the Gopro App, which is what you need to to stream, right the gopro connect to the Gopro. That's what gives you the ability to stream from the Gopro. So that's what I'm using. So I'm not using the youtube APP. I'm. Yeah, when you're using the youtube app and just streaming from your phone from that camera, then yes, you can create the event in a and it's pretty awesome. Let's see here. Oh, art says they do make mix. You can connect to the USBC on the Gopro. Oh, that's interesting. Okay. I did not know that. I'm not going to go buy one, but that's good to know. Which you wonder. I wonder if I could use the USB C to t r s adapter.
12:01 Okay. Well thanks for. I had no idea barb. That's really good to know. Thank you very much. Stuart Macintyre says what Mike using today? You sound amazing considering the situation. While that's remarkable, this is just the built in mic on the Gopro, which I have absolutely no idea where it is on here. It's somewhere on there. I'll. Maybe it's on the side and it's in its case. Wow. So you're saying it sounds that good? That's phenomenal. I can't wait to hear it. Sharks is. Wait until you see the Samsung s 10, five g version. You'll be able to stream better for your channel remotely. Uh, well yeah, five g would definitely be cool for GE is plenty for streaming remotely though. You do not need five g to stream remotely? I'm on Wifi right now because I'm at home when I'm in India, my plan is to buy a sim as soon as I get off the plane, so I should be able to do streaming live streaming when I'm out and about if I really want to, but I'm gonna be honest here.
12:47 That is not my intention. My focus is going to be on shooting and shooting stills, shooting video. Seeing the places that I'm going to. I'm visiting eight cities in 10 days. It's a very, very whirlwind tour. If I go live from there, it will probably be from a hotel, but uh, but you know, who knows, we'll see what happens. We'll see what happens. Uh, Marcus Hawkins, I film long concerts on my g 85. It drops a frame of audio and rolling over to a new file. Is that normal? Interesting. I have not experienced that. There are. I have experienced, not specifically dropped frame of audio but it drop frame of video, but that was always card dependent as long as you're on a good quality card. That was never an issue. No, that's not what the [inaudible] experience that with the Gh four. I have not experienced that in quite some time, but that is something that I used to experience and it turned out to be lower inferior card.
13:40 So make sure your cards are really good quality. I of course recommend the program cards. Those are in my opinion right now, pretty much the best in the industry. You've got the progress and the Angel Bird Angel Berta. Angela always get that mixed up. I think it's a bird. Both of those cards are fantastic. Pro Grade or my preferred right now, just because I've been working with them and I have a discount. If you use the code photo just of 10, you will get a 10 percent discount on that. I'll put a link to that down below as well. So, uh, yeah, the pro grade cards are awesome. Uh, let's see here. For Bart Johnson says, have you tried any of the three 60 cameras like the insta three, 61 and the one x, I have the one x coming in. It looks impressive for stabilizing the hyperlapse in today.
14:17 The only three 60 camera I played with is the, uh, what was that thing called the wonder? Three 60. I did a video on that a while ago. I will link to that up here and down below. Did the wonder three 60 video a bit ago that was, um, it was fun. It was interesting, but the quality is quite low now. That is, that was for a threesixty stream. I think what you might be talking about is that deal where it's like you can reframe it afterwards and it's hyper stable, which I've seen Weissach Casey did a video on that a while ago. It was remarkable. I don't know if it's the one you're talking about, but I'm pretty darn cool more people saying the sound is good. That is. That's incredible. Everybody seeing the sound. Is that good? Then? I guess there's no real reason for getting an external mic unless I want to put some distance.
14:56 Disciplinary or before I jump off, let me, let me do this because a little bird. Because part of what this thing does is how stable it is and I actually don't know. I'm just gonna do a little bit of walking around in here. I don't know how stable it is while we're doing live video. So obviously when you're recording video it doesn't stabilization. I don't know if it can do that while live, so I'm just gonna do a little bit of walking around here. I can't go too far. I might lose the connection. The wifi doesn't reach to well outside of my house, but I'm but going to want to see what this looks like. I want to see it as much as I'm sure you guys do. But yeah, it's uh, the, the stabilization in this thing is truly insane. If you watch, if you haven't seen it yet and you're interested in this camera, you really should watch the video.
15:39 He did a. He did a video where he was interviewing the, I guess the president of the company or something and one of the things that you said was why would anybody use anything other than this for blogging these days and I can certainly see the appeal. It's tiny. It's easy. It's incredibly stabilized. You can shoot in four k streaming. We can only see seven. 20 pm. Makes sense to see what resolution the file is. It keeps the high res file that it stores internally, but it's a. it's a markable little camera. Really remarkable. Okay. Last question in here. Then we're going to jump off. I'm Andrea said better go get this says, is there a setting or shortcut in the [inaudible] that I can clear all zebra peaking levels and I can do a better framing? Clear all. You mean to turn them off like as in you have all these things turned on.
16:25 You want to turn them all off at once? No, there's no shortcut to turn them all off at once. What I would do, what I would recommend and what I do, because if you're using those functions a lot as you should be, if you're doing provideo is reassign those. Actually I have my guy right here is reassign those to the function buttons on the back and remember that you can assign the Rock, the spindle here, these up, down, left, right, can be functioned buttons as well, so you can program those to toggle those things on and off. But no, there is no single shortcut to turn everything on and off. Sorry about that. Okay. That is that uh, someone asked me what bit rate you can shoot on this. I have no idea. It's just on. It's just the Gopro. Just, it just is. It's like there's minimal settings, but that's pretty cool.
17:08 Okay, that's it guys. I am super looking forward to Monday show where I talk about everything that I'm taking. This bag right here is insanely cool. Can't wait to show you this thing. Everything that I'm taking with me is right here. Everything that's going to end you with me is already in this bag is already packed. I'm even wearing the clothes. This is kind of a test run today. I'm ongoing to just make sure that everything is working out before you get on that plane early, early Tuesday morning and fly the 33 or 34 hour journey it is to get to my final destination of Calcutta. So with that said, folks, I will see you can be a little warmer and add to it is cold out here. I will see you on Monday. Take care guys. Bye. Bye. Now to figure out how to turn off the street here. Let's
17:50 was a big stop button. We can always hit them.
