My new GH5 is here; this one in a box! Let's see what's included… granted this box has been passed around the Luminary team a bit, but we can still check it out ;-)
PhotoJoseph jus received another GH5 to work with, (hopefully he doesn't have to send this one back). He skipped the unboxing with the last one, so he's doing it this time. It's a breakdown of everything that comes in the box…plus a bit of technical demonstration and, as always, answering the live viewer questions.

Could you pls Test it with a super wideangle lens (~8mm), cause in some reviews the edges on the image looked shaky when doing video with ibis on.
I am a bit worried about that.

Please, somebody tell Panasonic - we need a simple follow focus solution. And it could be done very easy just by putting an extra item in a camera menu that would show a SLIDER on a camera touch screen. With a visual slider, user should be able to move finger at any speed through it, or even jump to different positions. It is already there actually in manual focus mode, but user cannot control it with their fingers. That is so simple and would be a HUGE IMMENSE ADVANTAGE for all Panasonic cameras aimed toward video content creation. Second step - make same slider in Panasonic APP for mobile. Maybe an option to shut down picture transmission for increased latency. Considering how average Panasonic auto-focus works (comparing to Sony for example) that would be just so freaking awesome! Please, tell them.

Hello Joseph! Could you explain please about crop factor at GH5. I know that crop factor is two. The same as GH4. But comparing of these two cameras with similar lenses shows that GH5 has more wide view angle. So my question is: "Has the GH5 crop factor? And if it's so, what's size of it?

D M M the GH4 has an additional crop when shooting 4k, so the 25mm f/1.4 for example would be like a 57.5 whereas the GH5 uses the same 2x crop for stills and 4k, which might explain why it looks wider.
Hi Joseph, I've flip flopped on the decision several times but have settled on the GH5 with Sigma 18-35 with a Kipon Baveyes 0.7x focal reducer (speed booster) with alleged autofocus. Would love if you could test this setup in video with auto focus?! Also I'm looking for a compatible ttl flash with 58 guide number, anything cheaper than the official Panasonic one?
Joseph Linaschke Try Kipon, they have the "Baveyes" focal reducer with autofocus which I'm going for instead of metabones (risky but the baveyes has micro USB for firmware updates so hopefully they can improve and iron out errors and increase compatibility. Would love to see how the Baveyes focal reducer works with the GH5 and Sigma 18-35 but looks like I might have to be first victim. Fingers crossed it works well. P.S; great channel you have, thanks for your efforts and knowledge, greatly appreciated.
Can't until they Metabones determines compatibility. They don't appear to be interested in working with me until they have a GH5 of their own. Pitty.
Do you use a sensor loupe when cleaning the sensor ? If so, what brand
I don't clean my own sensors. Makes me nervous. I send them to Panasonic for servicing.

Hi Joseph, love the videos. Can the gh5 be used with a power adapter for continuous shooting from a wall outlet for example? By that I mean using the camera powered using the ac adapter plugged into a wall outled instead of using batteries. I currently do this with my Panasonic G7 and I know the GH4 has one, so I was wondering about the GH5.
NEVERMIND! I posted this before watching the video and realized you completely covered this. Its like you knew what I was thinking.....do you know what i'm thinking?......does the GH5 come with 2 sd card readers AND a mindreader??? Thanks for the great insight. I have had mine preordered since January and have watched every one of your vids over the past few months. Great stuff.
I agree with you that neck straps and they just get in the way. I bought a super intense LED flashlight that uses the same 18650 battery that my DS1 gimbal uses and it came with a small wrist strap that clips on and off easily. Haven't been able to find one like it alone so I bought another flashlight just for the strap so I'd have one for each GH3. It seems sturdy enough for a little insurance against droppage, it doesn't get in the way and most importantly is quick to remove with the clip. The batteries for my DS1 are a little too snug and I can't remove them very easy.
Guess those that disliked didn't care to explain. Really thankful you took the time to show the opening for the cord when powering the camera externally. Know that's not freely shared (especially over the web) know sonys have something similar but the method for the GH5 is dope

so far no i don't have any micro 4/3 lenses. Only Canon lenses. i am coming from a canon 80D. I am planning to take it with me on my trip to guatemala in June. I only have 50mm 1.8, 70-200 f4, efs17-55 f2.8, efs18-135, 24-105f4.

what?!? $2000 for a GH5 and it doesn't even come with a stinkin' USB-C to USB-C cable for us '16 MBP users? what a jipp! ;)
I'm pretty sure thieves don't care or know anything about what brand/model a camera is. All they see is "big expensive looking camera" and steal whatever they get the opportunity to.
+Christopher Cox I disagree. Thieves can be quite sophisticated. They know what will sell and what won't.
Having a logo on our bag however is a bad idea.

does Gh5 work with High Speed Sync lights?
Joseph Linaschke when you do right click on mouse on icons jpgs or raw You can go to "get info" pop out window and there should be all info about what gear you using and what settings was when the picture was made.got email I will send some screen shots what exactly I mean

Oh i forgot to ask about iMac when you do it on jpg or raw file right click and goes to "get info" its no telling what type of body or lens was used or even what setting was used for this picture. the reason is because Gh5 is released 30 March ??

Can you shoot and post still pictures with natural skin tone in daylight? Not much of that available.
Now that you have it back again, can you do low light high iso photo shots? also can you show some portrait and landscape shots? pretty please????? this is the only thing I need to see is how high iso is acceptable for me to change from nikon to GH5. The best i got for decent hand held low light shots was iso 1600. after that to much noise. Thank you very much

Transferring images with camera turned off. Is RAW photo transfer available? What video resolution for preview video on phone? Can you transfer video?
Connecting camera for remote control and is Internet is still available on phone. What remote liveview resolution, probably better to compare to other lumix camera to see the difference.
How does photo geotagging work? Is it just seamless? Or you still have to do something on camera to get geotagging in RAW.
How easy to connect GH5 to your office access point? I have a lot of issues with GH4 and GH3 which cannot find my WiFi and have to restart camera WiFi several times.
Not related to app but personally I would like to check if you can connect Windows 10 laptop to camera's WiFi access point and WiFi direct (add device in Windows 10)
