Hi, have you tried the 200 mm f2.8 with the panasonic 1.4 and 2x tele conv ? When I did the focus ring control is greyed out on my G9... it works fine without the tele converters though. I did all the camera and lens updates to enable the focus ring control. But it seems the tc's were not addresed by panasonic regarding focus ring control with the 200 mm f 2.8 teleconverters
I even looked at the pany updates site and didnt find any firmware updates for their tc's
You mean non linear right?
In my experience the default mode with the awsome lumix/leica 200mm f 2.8 is nonlinear totally fly by wire until you unlock via firmw. upgrades both camera and lens.
This lens is particularly on steroids in manual focus without the linear mode/ focus control and imposible to use a follow focus and preset stops.
Thats why I bought the G9 and GH5ii since the old GH5 has no upgtade to activate the focus ring control option just like some old lumix lens vertions...
Do you think panasonic would come up with a solution for their t. converters to work with focus ring control on the compatible cameras if enough lumix ambasadors call their attention about this big oversight??
Best regards!
Unfortunately the TC loses that control. Focus becomes linear.
You certainly know how to rabbit....
Hi, loved your video! Didn’t catch what program you’re using to view your photos which also displays the photo details in terms of lens, iso etc. mind sharing the software?
@@photojoseph ahh thank you so much!
That’s Lightroom
does this lens flicker in the view finder ? prob on Panasonic GX8 which i think is the same sensor as G9
@@swiftdetecting I can’t teach you how to use the lens in a youtube comment man. Read the manuals and experiment!
@@photojoseph hi use the 200mm f2.8 lens outside and was ok though sometimes was ok , do you know how to use the memory mod on the lens and also the other 2 settings on this lens ?

as doing tests on the lens as i got it used but did not get the 1.4 converter

also what AF settings would u use gx8 for sports and animals ?
as want to do a fair test so know its working right,
I'm not sure what you mean. Flickering in the viewfinder shouldn't happen. I'm not looking at the camera now but I'm pretty sure there's a 60p and 120p option for the viewfinder in the G9; not sure about the GX8 though. Flickering doesn't sound right at all though. I'd call Panasonic support.
What is that software u using for photos observing?
Lightroom
Just picked up a Panasonic G9 earlier this month. I know the crop sensor means you double the focal length for the 35mm equivalent field of view. Do you also need to double the aperture to get the full-frame equivalent of the aperture? (i.e., is the 2.8 really a 5.6 full-frame equivalent aperture?)
You are right in the first part, but regarding aperture it stays the same, if you adapt a 100mm f 2.8 full frame lens to m4/3 the lens will behave like a 200 f2.8
Yes, but it’s not as simple as that. Read this really detailed article that explains it in full. At the end of the day though, yes that’s the general idea. https://www.dpreview.com/articles/2666934640/what-is-equivalence-and-why-should-i-care
Do the function buttons also function for E-M1X ?
Slow down when you speak and don't force the enthusiasm. It comes across as fake. Also, if you know the images are crap because you had to shoot through a fence, why include them? It seems pointless.
Wish I could afford it. I love it more for wildlife than the 100-400(after trying both for 1 week each)... 😭😢 Wish I had one
Nice review. Thank you. In case you were wondering about a good use for the memory recall button, it's great for sports photographers shooting baseball/softball. Lots of action happens at second base (double plays/stolen bases, etc.) If you are shooting from a stationary spot, you can prefocus on second (or a couple feet in front of second if shooting from the first base side) and then follow the action elsewhere and when a play does happen at second you can push a button and instantly focus on that spot. Hoping to try that lens for sports this summer.
Thank you for making this video! Love it.
my pleasure!
I got to get my hands on a G9 to try out and I was blown away by how compact the camera in person was compared to a Canon 6D. And the lenses are way more compact than they look on picture and in video. Even the 100-400 blew me away with its compactness, comparing it to a Canon 70-200. The compactness and farther reach makes this reassuring on my decision to invest into Panasonic’s camera and lenses.
Awesome decision!!
5:27 i looooove that look for hard rock music videos
Best lens for taking selfies, period.
@Bronson Josue Lately I have been using FlixZone. Just google for it :)
I know I'm quite randomly asking but does anybody know of a good website to watch newly released series online ?
Liking so I can watch later. Please keep doing what you're doing, how you're doing it. Love the show!
VERY nice kit! Hey if you’re near Chicago, there’s that event in June, too.
I will be! Just picked up the G9, 42.5mm 1.2, and 12-35 2.8, this could be the next step. Amazing setup.
Thanks, and hopefully you’ll join me on another future workshop 😁
PhotoJoseph finally got around to watching it. Gorgeous samples! Shame I don't have a lazy $5,000US for that India trip, but sounds epic! Good luck!
Thanks!
