I am wondering if there is a significant advantage to using the vaults in Aperture vs making a direct clone of the library that could also be updated incrementally as the vaults are. If for instance, I use Carbon Copy Cloner, would I lose some of the meta data or library organization that might otherwise be preserved by using Aperture's vaults?

I think both ways work. When my Vault takes longer than thirty min to update after a normal size job has come in then I start thinking of Repair and Rebuilding the Lib. Its kind of a monitoring scheme I use for the condition of the Lib. Course I could be full of shit too. Cheers
