Aperture Inspector isn’t working properly anymore!

Aperture Inspector is a self-upgrading application, which means whenever an updated is released, it will offer to upgrade itself on the next launch. You may also see periodic upgrades to the Adobe Air application, which is required for Aperture Inspector to run. Of course those updates from from Adobe, and not from us.

Because we do rely on the Adobe Air framework, there are times where updates on their end can affect updates on our end. If you ever find yourself in a situation where Aperture Inspector gets “stuck” on the launch screen, or refuses to update, or any other launch related issues, try this fix.

1. Update Adobe Air

First, ensure you have the most recent version of Adobe Air. Download and install.

2. Delete Adobe Air’s Aperture Inspector Files

Navigate to the following folder in your home (user) folder (to access the ~/Library folder in Mac OS X Lion and above, hold down the Option key while clicking the Go menu in the Finder):

~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AIR/ELS

…and delete ALL items with “apertureinspector” in the name. Use the search box in the Finder window, and limit the search to the current folder.

3. Delete Aperture Inspector Preferences

Navigate to the following folder in your home (user) folder:

~/Library/Preferences/

…and again delete ALL items with “apertureinspector” in the name. Use the search box in the Finder window, and limit the search to the current folder.

Once completed, try to launch Aperture Inspector again.
