Ok so I know I'm a little behind with the most up to date software and hardware but hopefully someone knows what I can do…
So I purchased Aperture 1 when it came out in the beginning, and loved it. Always worked and no problems. I'm not normally one to update software at all, but last month I decided to do a full overhaul on my system.
I updated to OSX 10.6.8. Launched Aperture to work on some photos and it would just bounce on the dock, and not launch. I did a quick google search and found out that Aperture 1 would not work with 10.6.8, that was ok I get that. So I went to the apple website to download Aperture 2. The first install went as you would assume, noticed that I had a previous version of Aperture with a licensed key, and went to install. After it was done I went to launch it again, it bounced on the dock and I received the 'Aperture quit unexpectedly' message.
This is where the confusion happens and no one seems to know whats going on. I did some more looking around and found a few possible fixes but nothing has worked.
After some security updates, I tried again. Downloaded the Aperture 2 trial, just to get the ball rolling. Every time things seem to go off without a hitch. Installer runs, loads everything up, finishes with 'Successfully Installed'. However when I then go to Applications, nothing shows up? Perform a spotlight search for Aperture and only the install package shows up, no application. I have tried this about 10 times with the same results over and over, no application showing up.
Here is what I have tried so far:
-Fully uninstalled everything to do with Aperture, did a spotlight search to make sure all was gone, even went into folders that had Aperture items but did not show up in spotlight and deleted them.
-Downloaded the trial from 2 different locations.
-Created a new user as an admin, tried to instal from that user.
-Made sure I have rosetta installed as it is required for my computer to run Aperture 2
I have searched all over the net and no one else seems to have this problem. I have called my authorized apple dealer who I normally deal with and they had no idea. I contacted Apple and Pro Apps, they had no idea.
Hopefully someone can help me!
Thanks,
Matthew
Is there a reason you would not want to upgrade to Aperture 3? It costs $80 in the Mac App Store. If your hardware is too old to run it, perhaps it is time to upgrade your hardware too. Apple will certainly no longer support 10.6.8 once 10.9 comes out in the fall.
