Problems printing blown highlights #1

I'm having real problems at the moment can anyone help? I have some images that have clipped highlights. This is not a problem in itself as I want to print in B&W with a high contrast (I know how to reduce/remove clipped highlights). I shoot RAW, prep in Aperture 3.4.4 and am now trying to print a B&W image using greyscale to avoid any colour cast (printer is Canon iP4500).

However, the areas that are colour clipped (white) are printing black e.g. a white cat's leg is now black instead of white! I am happy with them being clipped/lack of detail but obviously NOT the complete colour reversal. I have also had this problem in the past with some colour images with bright sun or lamps (blown highlights) and these area has been printed in bright green!!

Any suggestions please - are there any setting to apply to prevent clipped areas being highlighted? Any help will be so gratefully received - I'm pulling my hair out here :-(

Thank you David. I will check my preferences, anything’s worth a try. Following the advice from someone else, I exported the image as a JPEG, re-opened in Photoshop and printed from there with no problem. His suggestion was that there could some sort of bug/glitch with exporting Canon CR2 RAW images but I’m not sure. At least I know I can print from Photoshop and although a bit of a long winded process it solves the problem for the moment.

Sorry Emma I think you have a color profile issue but I dont really know. Make sure all printer nossills are flowing and aligned. Ive never heard of AP printing the gamut warning but check your preferences for Advanced Hot n Cold areas are off. That is a wild guess. Do you have printer Managed or a specific icc profile selected in the AP print dialog box? what ever you have try something else :) Usually something with your printers name in it. So sorry hopefully some on who prints will chime in. David
