I was excited to see Pixelmator had added 16-bit support … until I saw it was only for the new Mac Pro … though they say they will be adding support for all machines in the near future … It was the last item I was looking for to add Pixlemator to my arsenal … now if they could add CMYK conversion … Adobe could stick their CC licensing where the sun doesn’t shine … ;-)
Hi Butch, I have been holding out on purchasing Photoshop CC myself. I would just love to go with something like Pixelmator. Have you been using it as your processing replacement in some cases? I use Aperture to Nik for the most part now.
No, I use Ps CS6 … I’ve owned Ps since v2 circa 1993 … just looking out for the future … if I can get by with a $30 one time purchase vs. a monthly stipend for life … I’d rather do the former.
I’ve been keeping an eye out on Pixelmator, Acorn and a few others to see who may pick up the mantle and give Ps a run …
Quite honestly, I only use PS for compositing posters, custom designs, etc. and CMYK conversions for clients who request that need. So I really could get by without Ps if I had to.
That has been my struggle. I see lots of pro photographer videos and they all seem to use PS. However, after watching a bunch of videos on how they use it, I don’t really see it for 95% of photography needs. I am hoping Pixelmator can pick up that 5%.
