Cheering up Skies in Aperture 3

I've always used the burn in brush to darken skies but the results are grey and muddy. Brushing in contrast too perks up the white clouds and brings a surprising amount of blue to the skies — with both at default settings.

This is the original photo (no enhancement)
This photo has the sky darkened using the Burn brush, but see how it’s gotten a bit muddy
This version has both Burn and Intensify Contrast brushed in
