nice video
Hi, thanks for all the videos, very informative. I got my GH5 yesterday and have noticed that the autofocus doesn't seem to be working when shooting at 50fps 100M. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks.
+JV Is that in VFR mode or is it straight UHD50p? AF doesn't work in VFR mode.
An official update from Panasonic regarding their restructuring:

The recent article featured on the Nikkei regarding Panasonic’s Imaging business was not announced by Panasonic and refers to a change in our internal organizational structure.
Integrating all consumer electronics divisions, our consumer Digital Imaging business will move under Panasonic Appliances Company and is not being dismantled.
The aim of this change is to further deepen our relationships with customers, strengthen our product capabilities, and continue to firmly develop and promote our business.

Ive had 2 new primes and 2 second hand primes (all diferent) and they've all been great. Used is a good option.
Have you tried the KOWA 8.5mm F1.8?
I have the Leica 15mm F1.7 and the Pana Leica 12mm is just to close to 15mm to bother splashing the cash on.
+Brian Cullen I have not. Just looked it up; sounds interesting!
Hi, there! Thanks for great gh5 videos.

Is there a way to contact Sean to ask him a question? There is an issue with gh5, metabones speedbooster ef ultra and zoom lenses (like my Sigma 18-35). When You zoom in, the camera freezes (everyone has the same issue).

My question is, will there be a firmware update and if yes when?
I contacted both Panasonic and Metabones, but they didn't reply.
A lot of folks are using adapters with m43 cameras so it is a big issue for us, with this otherwise great camera.

Take care, and keep up these videos coming :)
join this group on facebook guys there is a quick fix for the zooming issue https://www.facebook.com/groups/pansonicgh5/

) No lens on camera
2) Switch Camera on
3) Press Aperture toggle on Metabones and KEEP it pressed throughout
4) Attach Metabones to camera whilst it is still switched on
5) Once lens attached ONLY then take finger off Aperture toggle
6) Switch camera off, then back on and use :-)
Good to know :)
This is likely a Metabones issue. I know for a fact that they didn't have a pre-production GH5 so assuming they have one now, they are just getting started testing with it.
Thanks for answering my Menu Question.
They could add more explanations in firmware updates, hopefully they will as this is a great idea / function
Thanks Joseph great show as usual, sorry I missed it live as I was out filming but thanks for addressing my query about the blinking record light and thanks for passing it back to Panasonic.
Regarding the question from Quentin on wide lenses for vlogging, he may be interested in my tests with the Olympus 9mm body cap lens, bought initially as a bit of fun it has turned out to be remarkably good for vlogging and it only cost about $100 US.

I'll be uploading a bit more info about the lens on my channel later this week due to the interest I have had in my tests.   Thanks,  Andy
It looks like Casey feels the same way about the flashing record light :-)
Awesome, thanks! I have the 15mm version of that lens, but this 9mm one looks great
Darn Joseph, I just missed your webcast. I had a question which I still hope you can answer as I was struggling to get the follow autofocus when videoshooting right (I have the 12-35 v1 on my GH5). Here's my question: Which are the optimal settings for videoshooting fast paced sports while using autofocus? (not manual!! ). Which videosettings, face detection? , eye detection? , other settings? specific buttons on top of the camera?
If you haven't yet, watch this video https://youtu.be/6PyqWrztPkc — as far as which AF mode to actually choose, I'll be running some tests on that soon.
I am getting a GH5 soon (was told it wil arrive on Wednesday) and from downloading some sample 10-bit 422 4K videos I have seen online, some from March, these: https://vimeo.com/user803551/videos/page:2/search:gh5/sort:date (download original quality link on the videos) which may be from a camera which could have more recent firmware on it (its not mentioned what firmware), but none of the videos I downloaded will work with the editors I use.

I use Davinci Resolve 12.5 and it just says "media offline" (I believe the full studio version now supports thee GH5 10 bit videos) and Vegas Pro 14 which just gives me a green screen and only 8-bit videos open in both editors. Quicktime only plays back audio with black video,so currently can't open the ones I have downloaded and found only media player classic will play back the videos.

It was the same when I downloaded Neumannfilms GH5 sample videos in January and at the time I put it down to early beta firmware on the GH5.

I would actually like to playback and edit the videos I take and would like to know which editors and players have support and will import the 10-bit videos, so do you know or could you find out? I am planning on getting After Effects and from what I read, it could open the video files, is that true? I don't have or use other editors like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut (I use a PC) and what I want to do is open the videos, edit them and render them to DNxHR 4K 10-bit 422 (or 444) for better quality and will be able to edit those videos in any of my editors and play back the videos on Quicktime.
Thanks. I downloaded After Effects and I found that that After Effects does import the videos I had, fine, but it doesn't display the proper black levels (have to find out why and set the right settings so the videos will display properly) and I was able to export them to DNxHR 10-bit 4:2:2 and was able to import them into other editors with no issues.

I already asked about Davinci Resolve not supporting the 10-bit videos, on the Blackmagic forum here: https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?t=55098 and still no support as yet. I got an e-mail saying the estimate delivery for my GH5 order from Amazon is now end of April to end of May, not today! So I can't really test anything else until I get it, really hoping I may get it sooner than that though.
Final Cut Pro X reads the files fine. I don't use Resolve so can't speak to that, and I'm pretty sure Premiere does too. If the video can be opened in Quicktime Player, then you know the file is fine and you need to ask the software manufacturer what's going on. Let me know how you get on please.
