Loving Aperture 3, but had a question for some people that may have dug into some of the deeper features I myself have not had a chance to yet. With the new slideshow functionality is there a way to randomize the images in that slideshow automatically? The program I am using now does not contain this functionality and I would really love it if Aperture did.

Sorry for the crazy delayed reply. I must have missed this one in previous passes on the forums!
As far as I can see, there’s no way to randomize. It loads them in the order of the browser. You could try sorting the browser in various ways, like by size, or label, or anything else, which may appear to slightly “randomize” them, but other than that, I think you have to do it by hand.
It’s a nice idea though.

If one uses the Screensaver in SysPrefs, it lists the most recently accessed Library in Aperture among the choices (though the Projects / Albums / Folders, etc., are grouped differently).
Select the Slideshow created in Aperture and run it. It uses the KenBurns-style selecting slides RANDOMLY.
If one wants a soundtrack (though not slide-specific), use a series of checked-selections or a playlist in iTunes and start it playing before starting the SysPrefs Screensaver.
Added benefit:
Though Aperture supports display on a 2nd attached monitor, a Slideshow will only play on one (selectable in Aperture Prefs).
The Screensaver in SysPrefs alternates between BOTH monitors.
We photographers live-or-die by our ability to impress clients. So, until Aperture lives up to being a ‘Pro’-application (after all, it’s been in the OS for a long time, and clients have seen the alternating-use of 2 monitors, and ask, “If Aperture is a ‘Pro’-application, why can’t it use 2 monitors?”, and I have to hem-and-haw and make excuses ;) ).
