That will be a rather hard one, but you could try to brush in a curves adjustment maybe. (Maybe a simple dodge brush adjustment will also do the trick)

Yes I’d recommend Dodge & Burn. You won’t eliminate the shadows but you can probably reduce them.
Also try the “Highlights & Shadows” tool, then brushing the affect into the needed area.
