This is something has bugged me for ages and I have finally had enough! (Enough time to post this that is.)
I have a weekly contract with a local bar for their jam night, so I have dedicated a library to it alone. Every time I import pictures it goes to a manual sort. This library has been around for 2 years, 3 machines and at least 2 clean instals. I have went from a managed to referenced library and a few other minor changes. Nothing is seeming to work. Killing preferences doesn't seem to make sense as other library do not have this problem.
Any advice?

I know I’m a newbie here, but I don’t think you have actually said what your problem is? What is your “Sorting Issue”? What is it that doesn’t work?
Second sentence, second paragraph…”Every time I import pictures it goes to a manual sort”
I want it to sort by file name…even if I change 1/2 way through the import process it still flips back to manual.

Apologies for the delayed reply. I too have seen this before, where the sort order seems to spontaneously change, and I’ve never gotten to the bottom of it. But it doesn’t happen regularly as you are reporting.
Since it seems to be library specific, have you tried the basic Repair Database fix to see if that makes any difference?
