Anyone know if it's possible to leave notes or comments (like stickies) on Aperture images? #1

I often go through hundreds of images after a shoot, rating them and applying basic touching up etc. Sometimes I'll have a great idea for a certain photo, maybe a preset or an effect, or even something that will require Photoshop, but I don't want to stop and do the effect now, I want to finish rating them all on the first pass. I often find myself wishing there was a way to leave a sticky on the image inside of Aperture, for me to come back to later, as a reminder. ie. “Switch the groom's head with another shot, make 3 versions with different presets x,y, z…” That sort of thing. This would also be handy to write down a lengthy workflow to remember for next time. I know we could do this with the Mac OS X Stickies, but it's not the same as having it inside of Aperture, it would be like a comments field as part of the metadata or something.

Any ideas?

Have you tried the “Large Caption” field? On the Metadata tab select “Large Caption” from the popup menu and you get a fairly large text box to type whatever you wish.

Mark,

How about using a custom metadata field? You can create a unique field and call it “Notes”, and even have a metadata view that only shows your Notes. You could then set up smart folders that look for any image with a “note” on it, or even specific notes like “retouch” or “make B&W”.

You could go as far as creating a metadata view in either the Browser or Viewer that shows your notes, so you can look at a collection of thumbnails and view the notes under each photo.
