Is it just me? If I'm importing into Aperture 3 from an iPad 3, I cannot choose the Event/Folder in which to import the photos. The “Destination” and “Project Name” fields are greyed out. However, if I try to import from an SD card, I can select the Event or Folder in which to have the photos go or create a new folder. Is there some setting I need to change?
Kerry,
Nope, you’re not doing anything wrong. The same thing happens when importing from the iPhone. Weird.

Vidipixarts,
Nope, you can only import from the camera roll. I think the ability to put photos in albums from the camera roll isn’t something most people use. I could be wrong of course.

Thanks, Joseph. Perhaps it is worth asking the community to chime in? Something like this: if you could import images to AP3 DIRECTLY from albums in an iOS camera or from albums in iPhoto for iOS, would you find that helpful–should Apple add this feature?
Albums in iOS is a relatively new feature, and many people probably don’t even know about it yet. I know about it, but hardly ever use it.
As for importing, I like to import everything on my Camera Roll (so that it’s archived in A3 although) which is now easily done through Photo Stream imports and then create Albums of good photos that get synced to the iOS device through iTunes.
Annoying for sure. You can use Image Capture.app as an intermediate.
Not seeing that with my iPhone 4. All the normal options are available.

Thomas,
huh, you’re right… iPhone is fine, however iPad shows no destination options. I wonder why there’s a difference.

In the same vein–but a little different. Am I missing it or is there no way to import directly FROM “albums” in IOS devices? If I am not missing anything, seems that this would be a very useful feature(request). Put images in albums and you know these are the ones you wish to import–rather than tracking them down individually in the camera roll.
