Every time is a bit odd, but a yellow status isn’t anything to worry about. Yellow means that all your files are backed up and only something minor has changed, like metadata or an adjustment. And changes to files will make it turn red. If you have Photostream or Faces turned on, it could be they’re making updates to images as Faces is almost constantly processing photos if you have a large library.
Does it happen if you just open aperture, backup, then open and close it immediately?
I just tried that 3 times in a row and the status stayed black. (good) I hadn’t considered Faces, maybe thats it. Thanks again for your help. Its comforting to know that even if it turns yellow most of my data is safe; its just a little disconcerting
