Help!! I am not sure how I have managed to create havoc quite so badly in my library, but I have managed to rename every referenced file to flower.xxx & lost every connection to the original & cannot see a way of reconnecting or renaming them properly. I created a vault a week ago but I cannot seem to restore from this either.
I'd be grateful for any advice.

Glad to hear you were able to recover. As far as the out of space issue, Aperture needs 2x the library size to restore libraries, I believe, because of the way it creates scratch files. That space has to be on the drive you are restoring to, not on an external drive.
As far as the constantly processing, there are several discussions throughout the forums. This is probably due to a stuck or corrupt file. If you open the activity window you should be able to see what it’s doing; if it’s stuck on a specific file, you can remove or reimport that file to try to solve it. Also it could simply be processing faces or something like that.

By way of an update to the restoring from the vault, I keep getting the error message that I do not have enough space to restore the library from the vault. 18.45 GB is needed but only 0 KB is available. On all all discs external or internal I have at least 400 gb.

Id get lots of opinons before trying anything. I think it would be safe to repair the computers permissions using disk utilities and a Safe boot, see FAQ. Then repair Apertures permissions and then repair the db and maybe rebuild it before you go to a Vault repair. Good luck

Progress has been made.
I use Time Machine & the only thing that would work was to restore the library from an earlier point. I have every picture named correctly where it should be.
I have a few queries though.
I thought I was always using Aperture managed, but it would appear it was referenced as the original library was 36gb, the new restored library is 214gb. Not to work, I have the space.
Export is now not working though when I try to add a watermark. Its also constantly processing for some reason. I have closed down, restarted & deleted the cache but all exactly the same.
Any ideas?
