Am not sure how to update a folder in Aperture. So when I used to use LR is I went into the folder on my HD and made some changes then saved it back to that folder in LR all I had to do was start LR. Then find the folder with the image right click and click on update folder. LR would scan the folder for new files then I would be able to import the new image next to the raw file. Is ther anyway to do that in Aperture without having to dig for each file?
G Vivanco,
Aperture doesn’t work that way at all. The relationship between the Finder and Aperture is not locked. It’s a completely different workflow in that regard than to Lightroom.
I thought you already had my book, but maybe not… I really recommend you pick up “In-Depth Getting Started with Aperture 3” as this will help you to understand how Aperture stores and manages files.

Funny. I do have your book. Maybe I was hoping I missed something or that Aperture would add that. Also if Aperture would add a keyboard short cut to the color overlay that would make the tears run for sure.

George
George,
I thought you already had it ;-)
I wouldn’t count on Aperture working that way in the future, as it’s fundamentally a different approach to what’s in Lightroom. Of course, never say never!
and for the overlay shortcut… I hear ya brother!

I email Scott Bourne and asked him to please tell the people at Apple to add the shortcut. He got back to me and said he would mention it to them. I guess dragging your mouse to the top and clicking on the gear then on the overlay color is no big deal. NOT.
George,
agreed… and believe me, they’ve heard it from all of us! :)
