I have some archive aperture libraries that I don't want previews in - just to save disk space. So I deleted the previews, but when I reopened the project it regenerated them, presumably because I have 'automatically generate previews' set, and that preference applies globally and not to each project.
So do I have to turn it off permanently and remember to create previews manually in my 'sorting new stuff out' library?

There is an alternative I think:
Select your project, then deselect “maintain previews for project” in the top action menu (Top left of your screen, the small drop down just beside the “search field” that is located underneath the 3Library” tab)
Only then can you delete the previews for that project, and they won’t be recreated.

Thanks chaps
My first reply to Nicholas seems to have got lost. That looks fine, but I’m trying to turn off preview generation for a whole library, but can’t see a way to do it other than doing it one-by-one for each project. Hmmmm

David,
First you can choose to have it enabled or disabled by default on each NEW project, in the Preferences [screenshot].
Then you can select individual projects and enable or disable previews, as already described [screenshot].
If you select the Projects view, you can enable or disable for ALL projects at once [screenshot]

Thanks Joseph; it was that third vital step I was missing.
