I recently updated my Aperture 3 to 3.2.2 and I can't locate the little speedy filmstrip advance slider that was just to left of the long advance slider running below the filmstrip. What happened to it?

Probably you’ve encountered the new MacOS X Lion “feature” that makes scroll bars disappear unless you are scrolling. You can disable this by opening the System Preferences (in Apple menu) and in the General preference pane change the “Show scroll bars:” to Always.
I have the Apple Magic Mouse which lets you scroll left or right by sliding your finger across the surface of the mouse. You can scroll through the photos without changing the Show scroll bars setting. Same thing should be possible if you have the Magic Track Pad or the track pad of a laptop.
