Any thoughts on how long it will be before Apple updates their Aperture RAW converter to accommodate the Canon G1-X CR2 format now that the camera has hit the streets?

Just wondering if there are any updates yet for the G1X?

Richard,

This is Apple’s RAW support page — you can check there anytime for the current camera support: RAW Support Page.

Also I recently created a new FAQ on the topic of RAW support that you may want to read.

Tom,

As always, no actual indication, but given the popularity of the previous G-series cameras, I’d guess it won’t take too long.

Thanks for reply. Yes, I had purchased Aperture because the G1X was shown on this list, but Aperture still didn’t recognise the .CR2 files…

I found the problem - I hadn’t downloaded the ‘Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.10’
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1510

Once I installed this, I re-imported my .CR2 files and hey presto! it worked!

Thanks again for help and FAQ’s.
I am new to Aperture - so I am sure I will be checking back to your site for tips etc…
:)

Richard,

Aha, great. Yeah if you see the camera on the list but you’re not getting support, then that’s definitely an indication that an update is needed! :)

Glad you’re sorted out, and welcome to Aperture.

Let us hope that the amazing Fuji X-Pro 1 is not far behind in terms of RAW support!
