I stupidly deleted my main Aperture library. And I emptied the trash. I was cleaning out some unused libraries. Anyway, I'm sure I know the answer to this, but is there anyway to undelete? I normally Time Machine backup but the drive failed last week and I'm in the process of returning it for warranty work. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

One of the prime reasons to implement the Aperture Managed Work Is Vault Libraries.
If it’s not backed up in two places, it’s not backed up.
A good drive specialist can recover your master files,but not your adjustments.

If you just google “undelete Mac” you’ll find several options. I haven’t used one in years and I don’t even recall what it was (I don’t seem to have it anymore… must have deleted it har har har). Anyway this software looks promising, but I’ve never used it: Mac Undelete.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… CLOUD BACKUP. I don’t care how slow your internet connection is, even if it takes a year to backup, it’ll get there eventually. Backblaze is your friend and mine.

Can’t stress the great feature of VAULTS in Aperture.
It is so simple to create a Vault on a separate drive and vault at the end of your work session.
You have to work in managed library mode. Referenced images are not backed up in your vaults.
Referenced masters would be backed up in Time Line.
YOU have to back up. If you count on automated systems you will get hurt at some point.

Vaults are great, IF you work Managed. Many of us don’t (I have several TB of photos, it’s simply not practical). I do use the Vault, but that’s like my last line of backup.
Relying on automated systems is a way to get hurt? I’d argue the opposite; relying on yourself is the way to get hurt. Obviously anything can break down, but I think it’s far more likely that you will be too tired, forgetful, insert-excuse-here to click backup than the system will be to forget to run our automated 1am backup every night.
Whatever you do, multiple and offsite is key. You gotta have three.

Currently have 7 Tb of managed libraries, all vaulted on site and off.(21 Tb in all)
I keep a drive library and a vault library in the office and a vault library off site(updated via swap out with updated office vaults every month).
Many of the older libraries (5 Tb or so) are unplugged and used only when called for in a project or by a client. They don’t need regular vaulting as they sit quietly waiting. Libraries are cataloged by year.
I maintain many more libraries as time goes on, smaller size <100K images seem to run faster on my systems.
When I looked into cloud back ups, my understanding was that Backblaze deletes any unplugged hard drives that are inactive for more than 30 days? That’s what has kept me away.
If Backblaze will store unplugged drives please let me know. A cloud based system that keeps all data without costing an arm and a leg would be great.

Yes, you’re right… Backblaze does require the drive to be active once per 30 days.
