I have my files referenced on an external HD. Unfortantely the FW800 port on the HD broke and I bought a new HD (and filled it with a backup copy of all my pics). The backup has the same file structure as the original HD had. I also gave the new HD the exact same name as my old HD had. My thought was that Aperture would recognize the new HD as if it was the old, but not… It just says my HD (the old one) is offline and therefore the pictures shown are just previews…
So my question is: How do I tell Aperture that all the photos in my library are now on the new HD with the same name? Any simple solution to this?

Have you tried Locate Referenced Files? Select all the missing photos, then File > Locate Referenced Files, then select one of the photos in the top section of the window, then that photo file on the HD in the bottom section, then press Reconnect All (hopefully). Takes a while.
