I may have missed this in the training videos, where do you put a title or description for you pictures so that when you upload them to Facebook, Flickr, etc., so that the title isn't the file name?

Thanks.

I have never used the in built Facebook uploader, so I am not 100% sure.

I have seen a few clients that have uploaded to Facebook their jpeg images and it seems to read the Copyright Notice line in the exif info as the title of the picture as their photos all come out with the title ©ChrisHoch

I do not know if this might be the same for the inbuilt uploader?

There is another 3rd party plugin:

I do not know if this 3rd party might be of more help?

Mark,

Most services like Facebook and Flickr seem to use the Version Name as their title. Some will display the Caption as well. Flickr will show the Keywords too but on the side, not right under the photo.

Hi Joseph,

It seems funny to me that everyone that posts pictures to Facebook or Flickr (or any of the services) post the complete master file name of the picture, I don’t remember seeing that on anybody’s pictures.

Can you change the name/title of a version of a photo and post that? I’m posting the modified version anyway and not the RAW original.

Mark,

You can change the the Version Name at any time; it’s the File Name that you can’t change easily [screenshot].

Here’s a (related) question:

Often you see boxes for ‘Title’ and ‘Caption’.

What’s the difference?!

Marcus,

Caption is a standard IPTC field used universally as a description of the photo. Title is a less used field, but it’s still a valid IPTC field. You won’t find any service like flickr using it though, as far as I know. I did a google search for “IPTC Status Title” (Title is under Status under IPTC) and got this link.

IPTC is a standard that stands for International Press Telecommunications Council.
