I have upgraded my OS on my 15” late 2010 MBP. I have the 3.1v of Aperture and have downloaded 3.4.1. When I try to install it I get an error message saying “alert Aperture 3.0 or later to install this update”. Help!

Mark,

I’m a little confused… you say you downloaded the newest version from the App Store, but then you say that it says you need 3.0 or better — yet you can’t download an updater from the App Store. You can update from the App Store, but not download an updater and run that yourself.

Perhaps you mean that when you click Update in the App Store it’s giving you that error? If that’s the case, try logging out and back in to the App Store.

You also didn’t answer Thomas’s question about what version of the OS you are running. Not Aperture, but the OS itself.

Mark,

If you bought Aperture 3 from the Mac App Store, then you need to update it using the Mac App Store. Open the Mac App Store and click on the Updates icon at the top of the window.

The downloadable updater from Apple’s support sight only works on boxed versions of Aperture or for those who bought a license code from Apple to enable the trial version before Aperture was added to the Mac App Store.

Hi Tom,
I have a boxed version and was getting the update from Apple support. I’ve tried 3 times and I always get the “need 3.0 or later”. Should delete and reinstall the disc? Will doing so affect my current library?

Mark,

What version of MacOS do you have? 10.7.5 or 10.8.2 are the minimum for Aperture 3.4.1.

Reinstalling the app from DVD won’t affect your library.

I have the newest version from the app store. Just downloaded it on the 29th. I paid for my copy and I am getting the update from the right source but it keeps saying I need 3.0 or better. Has anybody else had this? Why is it happening to me?? Am I paying for past sins???
