Hello,
I've been getting a handle on Aperture the past few weeks using Josephs' ebooks and training videos (thanks Joseph, they've been a big help) and have just about finished my first wedding using 3.2.3.
I'm after recommendations as to wether to keep going with 3.2.3 to become more familiar and update to 3.4.? a little later or bite the bullet now.
Thanks,
Dave.
Coming from the IT world, you want to stay current with software where ever possible. Finding that you like one version, and sticking to it will begin to cause other problems to creep into your overall IT space. Eventually, you will be driven to upgrade something, and everything that is frozen will have to come along, and that process can be painful. Better to follow along and minimise the effort.
As an aside, though I have yet to even hear the remotest whisper of any security issues with Aperture, as one friend found sticking with an entirely different application, it limited his ability to upgrade the operating system, which in turn affected the security of his system that eventually was infected. At least he listened to me and had many and multiple back-ups of his system and data, so could productively move to the latest versions.
Thanks everyone,
I hear you all, …go with the flow, …keep up with things or get knocked down!
Also easier to learn the up to date stuff and learn well.
Will update during the week.
Dave
David: I think 3.4 improves stability and compatibility
3.4.3 is the most stable, best-performing version of Aperture I’ve ever used. That said, I’m not doing this for a living, so there are other workflow considerations for you.
I follow the crowd voice ;) better that you move now while still learning:
The version are enough close not to get lost but the new features will help u a lot either for classification or for the modification
