After Joseph's suggestion I bought the Applescript and pointed it towards Photoshop CS6. It worked fine the first time but not after that. I figured out that as long as the “Exported Master Images” folder on my desktop is there, the script fails. If I delete this folder and run it again, it works fine.
Any ideas? Ideally I'd love to be able to add something to the script to delete the folder (or at least the contents) but my Applescript skills are not any good :-)

Edit: The exact error message in the Applescript Editor log is 'error “Finder got an error: The operation can’t be completed because there is already an item with that name.” number -48'
Ah, the script must need to be altered to create a folder only if it doesn’t already exist.

I did get to the stage where I modified the script to delete the folder if it already exists (opposite to what you suggested but this works fine anyway) but it causes issues with actually opening the file. Not sure why exactly though.

I have also modified the script (downloaded yesterday) to launch CS6 instead of Lightroom: The raw file is correctly exported into the export folder, CS6 is being launched but the exported file does not open as expected; if I try to open the exported raw file manually from CS6, ACR is then launched normally.
