I've had my photos in Aperture for a good time and all of a sudden every time I try to locate the photo in Aperture's library through the Locate Reference files…. menu I get the following message: No Referenced Files !! This selection doesn't have any referenced files! Can you tell me what the problem might be?

For the “Locate Reference files” menu command to work, you must have selected an image (one or more) in the library that is stored as a reference file (i.e. it is stored outside the Aperture library package). If you select a “managed” file, you will get the message you described.
