Non-English keyboards and keyboard command problem #1

I run Aperture in English on a two machines that both have Swiss keyboards. Sometime in the last year (sorry I can't be specific) many often used commands like “B” for the loupe & the 1-2-3-4-5-9-0 for ratings stopped working. I have played around with creating new command sets and deleting preferences but it never fixes the problem.

If i go to Aperture>Commands>Default the checkmark is always on French (I have the option of English, French & German). If I change it to English the commands work as they used to but revert back to the French default the next time I launch aperture. In other words it does not stay on the English default even though I have selected it.

This problem happens on both machines & I've trawled the web & Apple forums off-n-on for months with no joy. Anyone any ideas?

By the look of it, no one knows the answer to this. It’s driving me nuts and actually puts me off using Aperture. The really frustrating thing is that it used to work just fine :-(
