I’m having a problem applying the watermark feature to my photos that I’m hoping to sell online. Does anyone know how this works… If I upload the watermarked photos to the site, when a customer purchases the digital photo, does the watermark automatically remove before sending? I can’t sell them with the watermark on…
What site are you uploading to?
I believe Smugmug.com supports watermarking photos and if a customer buys an image it will deliver the unmarked version. You upload unmarked photos and SmugMug does the watermarking where required. You need to get the right type of SmugMug account to be able to sell and set the prices. I’m only making this suggestion based on memory of capability they have. I don’t currently use that capability and don’t have experience with it.

If you apply the Watermark before uploading to any site, then you will have to have another copy of that image to send to the buyer. As Thomas above posted, places like SmugMug will have a feature for watermarking, but if you watermark a image in Aperture, then upload it, the watermark in embedded into the image and will always have it. There is no magical ”disappearing” watermark feature in Aperture that will remove it for you. Once its on there, its on there, and you will need to supply the original file still.
