Is there any way of accessing Aperture files without exporting to Tiff, PSD or other format

Just wondered?
If Apple ever decided to change their business model and discontinue the production of Aperture, what happens?
I have a photographic memory but never got it developed
You can write the metadata back to the original files and choose File > Export > Export Originals to get the raw files out of Aperture. You will lose all of your adjustments. Exporting as an RGB file like PSD or TIFF will give you a backed file with all your edits, but you will not have the ability to make raw adjustments.

Thank you Walter,
Much appreciated, just got me thinking, not that I’m ever going back to Nikon Capture NX2 which will not be supported by Nikon very soon but
Hopefully, this never happens, tried LR but found Aperture was easier to learn

The issue of non destructive edits with proprietary software is not unique to Aperture. Rod Lawton in his Life After Photoshop blog ( http://www.lifeafterphotoshop.com) has an article in December 2013 titled:
THE TICKING TIME-BOMB OF NON-DESTRUCTIVE EDITING
This described how if any software is doing non-destructive editing, it could be problematic if the software goes away. With the cost of memory falling, maybe this isn’t a problem if we just save all of our important/best images as Walter describes above.

Thanks John,
Interesting read, thank you for the link
Waiting for Rod’s DNG blog!
The way things are panning out, I can see my tiffs building up

Well,
I exported the NEF original, edited with all the options in Nikon software, all OK!
Also with ACR, worked a treat but with the “baggage” of the sidecar files

ACR supports DNG. Unfortunately Aperture doesn’t provide the full support it should or I would recommend converting NEF files to DNG.

I don’t think Aperture has an issue with Nikon NEF to DNG files, as they come out as true RAW DNG files. Aperture can’t read Linear DNG files (which is what Canon RAW files tend to be saved as).
Tks Guys,
Still glad I went the Apple way
