Anybody work with this combination? I am looking to perfect what I see on the monitor vs. the printer’s output. Calibration of monitor, printer settings, profiles…..I’ve read somewhere about (Canon?) reducing monitor brightness to a set setting, I do select the proper paper profile for printing, but still getting dim/flat color in my prints. Suggestions?

Make sure you download the latest paper profiles from Canon.  Aperture, like Lr, has the ability to do soft proofing, so you might want to try that before printing.

I’m not using Aperture (using Lr) under Yosemite.  I’ve found that the colors with Canon’s stock profiles tend to be accurate, but they print about 1/4 of a stop too dark.  Canon’s Print Studio Pro plugin (Lr only) does a good job at helping to correct this.

I still have an old copy of XRite’s EZColor (running on an old WinDoze laptop) that I use to create printer profiles.
