After years of use, I have come to realize a bunch of my earlier photos had been set up as referenced. I would like to get these moved to ‘Managed’ for a cleaner workflow, and to prevent any possible problems when migrating to PhotosApp. I believe the initial problem was when I first converted iPhoto to Aperture years ago. Any input on this ‘process’ much appreciated. Thanks.
OK, I just moved all of my referenced files from two separate folders into one on an external HD, so I’ve had recent experience dealing with relocation of referenced files. So I went into Aperture and tried to highlight one of my referenced projects, did a File>Relocate Originals for Project and tried to select Pictures>Aperture Library for the destination but the Aperture Library was greyed out and non selectable. So I guess you might have to relocate them to a folder on your desktop and re-import them to Aperture making sure the Aperture Library is the destination. Obviously, backing up your files before doing this should be done. I am no expert but I think that should work. Hopefully, someone smarter than me can correct me if I’m wrong or suggest a simpler solution.

Thanks for that, my situation was due to the ‘connection’ path to referenced was lost. Once I did a locate referenced files (which showed the path) , selected them, then clicked ‘reconnect all’. Once that was done I could then move them all over to ‘Managed’.
You can quickly and easily migrate referenced masters to “managed” by selecting them all in the browser view and choosing 'File > Consolidate Masters'. This will move them into your current Aperture library.
