I’d like to see how others are adapting their Apreture workflow for Capture One. I have enjoyed sharing my photos from Apreture to Flickr, iCloud and my own web site. I’m working out new processes for Capture One. Here is a quick video on how I’m sharing to iCloud. It’s not prefect, but it works fairly well: http://youtu.be/Z1UkHSA2EkU
For Flickr I use the new Flickr Uploader tool, which you can download from flickr.com for free.
It runs in the background and will automatically upload any images that you drop in a certain folder on your HD. Just select this as an output folder in your C1 processing and you’re done. They are placed in a new album on Flickr and security is set to private by default. Works perfect. I don’t know if there is some sort of “synchronisation” happening, but then again I don’t have so many images on Flickr anyway.
FWIW I’ve found Aperture+iCloud unreliable and now that Flickr for iOS has a timeline since version 4.0 (Yay! Punches air theatrically) I am uploading my entire back catalogue of 3* and better rendered jpegs to give me cloud access to them. The steps are:
- make sure metadata is right before upload because it won’t be possible to resync later. For example be sure that Aperture is exporting faces as keywords; if it matters, find a way to populate IPTC Country and City from Lat and Long (*** ideas, chaps?)
- export images to disk, I’ve created a folder Flickr in pictures with subfolders 1970s, 1980s, … 2011, 2012, 2013 etc
- Flickr uploader for Mac uploads these as private albums
- Use SuprSetr to create smart albums - but it can only work on Tags and Dates which is why you need to have all the tags (including faces and places).
- In Flickr organiser you can then select from the smart albums and make the privacy Family, Friends or public. I’ve set this up with Friends as a critique group; Family includes friends.
Rather more complicated than just bunging them into iCloud, but for the benefit of a free terabyte it suits me.
