Not sure if there’s a post here, but figured I’d ask. Long time Aperture user and making the switch as I’ve posted here before to LR along with DxO Pro, etc. *I was thinking of using Photos to house images once they’re edited and possibly use iCloud at some point. Just a thought… Or, just move away completely.
I’ve been backing up my Aperture library to EHD’s using the Vault as well as Backblaze. Does Photos use Time Machine to back up images?

Photos is backed up with Time Machine and Backblaze just like everything else in your system. Remember too that if you're using iCloud Photo Library, then the entire library lives in iCloud as well.

I think, at least for now, I’m going to move my Aperture Library to Photos without the iCloud storage.
Total workflow change looming regarding edits. Photos will be used only to house images.
