In regards to your other question on other things to have in the site. I would say as the site develops and more in-depth technical info is posted on Aperture functions. Maybe have short demo videos. Also, it may be worth while to post about upcoming ebooks or tips/ tricks.
Would like to see a forum with more subject boards like you see for other software products. That has been the most frustrating part of being an Aperture user. Hardly any online information and user forums. Unless someone can point me to some.

The biggest forum is going to be on Apple’s own site, here. However you can feel free to create any new question in the “user questions” part of this forum, but at the moment I appear to be the only person responding ;-) I can’t manage 1,000’s of questions on my own, but would love to see this discussion forum grow.
In the meantime, post your questions in there and I’ll try to get to them, and the best ones I’ll turn into posts on the Tips & Tricks page.

The Apple forum is weird. I like the standard vBulletin-type of forums the best. Easy to navigate and much easier to get discussions going.
BTW, here’s a topic that I wish someone would take and run with it. eBook, post, whatever. Sharpening in Aperture 2/3. There are so many techniques for Photoshop and Lightroom users. Aperture must have them too. Thanks!

I hear ya… and the big forums are easy to get lost in. One of many reasons I started this site; it’s nice to have a smaller community feel.
Sharpening—yep, and you’re not the first to ask. Admittedly it’s lower on the priority list, but I’d love to do one one day. Feel free to remind me any time, and there’s already a request for this in the “What would you like to see future eBooks on?” forum, but go ahead and add it in there again. More the merrier!

Thanks for the effort of maintaining this great site, together with your Twitter site and your other activities. You are a very busy man.
Being as well a Premium member of Mac Create, I had the pleasure to get your first eBook on the 10 tips on File Management and I learnt a lot. Thanks.
I also downloaded the 360 pages eBook from MacCreate, free to Premium members, and I guess that your eBook should treat the same subject as thoroughly as the one of MacCreate. Unfortunately, I will probably not feel the need to purchase your eBook, though I would definitely like to contribute by purchasing something in your store, if I don’t already have it from MC.
Meanwhile, the Premium members of MacCreate have an advantage on getting some bonuses and that must be affecting your business obviously.
We already got a pack of Adjustments Preset for Aperture 3. Can you tell me if the pack you are working on will be totally different ? If so, I will be happy to purchase it.
I read that you have an excellent relationship with David Schloss and the guys at MacCreate and I am wondering if, at some stage in the near future, you would not consider merging the two sites together, thus making it easier for all of you guys to cope with the many new members that you are getting daily.
You are both doing a great job helping the Aperture community and I am very grateful, as all your readers must be I guess.

I maintain a separation of MacCreate and ApertureExpert as my site is dedicated solely to Aperture, while MacCreate covers a vast amount of Mac software solutions. I believe people appreciate the simplicity of this site, but by all means I encourage users to read both. There’s a different style and vibe and approach to our sites, as there are to our eBooks, tutorials, tips and more.
Just like you would never assume that by owning one cookbook you would never need to own another, our eBooks and sites and presets, while they will exhibit some obvious overlap, will have enough uniqueness to them to merit their individuality for a long time coming.
Some of the same material I sell here is available on MacCreate to premium users at a discount as well, and that’s a business decision that we’ve made between the two sites.

Hi Joseph,
You should change your site’s favicon, so that it get identified with it’s own favicon and not Squarespace’s favicon.
You can do it by going to the Squarespace Website Management - Website Settings - Advanced - Favicon Display. One can make one in PS or use one of the free online favicon generator out on the Ether.

There seems to be something amiss with your website. If I leave your web page open, Safari eventually consumes 100% of one of the CPU’s on my quadcore intel iMac. It results in slowing Safari to a crawl. As soon as I close the window with your site Safari’s CPU usage drops to below 10% and Safari once againd displays snappy response.
I’ve seen apparently similar behavior with Google Chrome on Windows XP.

What about user generated content? Maybe a Tips and tricks section from users that can be pooled together in one place for easy consumption. If those postings also had comments that went along with them then people can chat about that topic to learn more and help the group grow. I am always coming up with little things that I learn from all over that I like to share and it could be a great opportunity for lots of info to funnel into one place.
Another Idea that could work out well is screencasts. I am planning on doing some for my local photo group to help people learn little things so I don’t have to waste time every time we have a meetup discussing the same “How-Tos” over and over. This is could really help people along greatly with learning the ins and outs of Aperture.

RSS is actually already enabled. If you’re using Safari, you should see the RSS badge in the URL bar. Otherwise, any RSS reader should sniff it, or you can manually get it from the More > RSS menu [screenshot]

The site is difficult to read. Very nice font, but inadequate contrast makes it hard to read. Joseph’s posts are the most difficult with the white on light grey have very little contrast.
Is there a way to change the settings so a greater contrast of font and background can be obtained?
