I have an issue when trying to backup a managed library item, e.g., a project or projects to a DVD. When I follow all the instructions, the disc is burned ,but it difficult to view on a PC. Even then you have to click through several windows to find the project photos. The same issue does not happen with referenced photos. What am I doing wrong?

I do not know. Did not know there is a precision option. Thought I was backing up photos as they are in the project.

Joseph was asking what method you used to make your DVD. How do you do it?
Are you using the Finder to burn an exported Project file as library? Are you exporting your images using the Export->Version command within Aperture and then using the Finder to burn that to a DVD?
I would guess you are burning a library file which would explain why you have the complicated folder structure on the DVD.

I think you’re trying to do too many things with the same DVD. If you want to backup a library file which contains all your masters, adjustments and metadata, then burning an Aperture library file (which you got by exporting a project as a new library) is the right way. But you shouldn’t be using this on a PC without Aperture running on it.
If you need to share with another computer not running Aperture (especially a Windows PC), then a library file is the wrong way to do it. You should just export your images from Aperture to a folder and burn that folder. Either export the “Versions” if you only want your adjusted images or export the “Masters” if you want the originals or do both if you want both.
