Whenever I use the blur tool over a strength of 4 I start to get this halo effect that looks like a cheap glamour shot. Does anyone know of a way to fix this?
I’ve found the Blur brush to work remarkably well. I wonder if you have Detect Edges turned on, which could possibly result in something like what you’re describing?
If not, can you post before/after images somewhere, or even an Aperture library with the sample file included?
You can post files using the service DrobBox (that link will let you set up a free new account if you don’t already have one), or drop them in the ApertureExpert.com Drop Box found under the More menu above.

Thanks for getting back to me. I ended up having to delete it and all of my preferences and do a fresh install. That seemed to fix it.
