I am trying to determine if there is a Lightroom Clarity, or Aperture Definition like slider in Apple Photos. This would essentially be a mid-tone contrast slider.
Clarity is mid-tone contrast. Definition is clarity + structure. structure is some weird sharpening that brings out texture. Photos has 2 adjustment that allows u to adjust the white point. if u like sliders, Light adjustment brick has an exposure slider which is the white point adjustment in Photos. “Exposure” may mean different things in other apps, but in Photos, it's a white point adjustment. If you prefer using the Levels adjustment, there's a control handle on the lower right corner that also adjust the white point.

To do a Clarity adjustment in Photos, use the Levels adjustments. Levels adjustment has 8 control handles. 1) move the upper left control to towards the middle. 2) move the upper right control handle to toward the middle. That's a Clarity adjustment.

In seperate note, you can also adjust structure in Photos by adjusting the definition and clarity. To increase structure, increase definition and decrease clarity.

By the way, you can do most of the adjustments that Lightroom can do. For example, Lightroom has a split-tone adjust brick and Photos does not, but u can still do split toning in Photos. u can use the Level adjustment which allows to select the channel that will give you the toning you want. to tone the shallows, u drag the two control handles on the left. To tone the highlights, drag the right 2 control handles on the right.

Hello Krakatoa, I have a question about mimicking a preset I have for Lightroom, in Photos. It appears you know Lightroom and Photos well. Post processing is not really my thing. I would like to ask you a question about this offline and I can’t figure out a way to send private messages through this forum. Please email me at mfseverini@gmail.com so I can ask the question.
I'm not a fan of presets so i haven't used them. The only presets i have used were the MacPhun presets. i add few of those as favorites so i access them fast. can we not take this conversation private? i feel other people may benefit and contribute to this conversation.
Here's the Lightroom adjustments not in Photos:
1. Tone Curves. one of my favorite tools because i can do any thing with it. Photos' Level is far more powerful than most level tools because Photos' level tool has 8 control points which gives very fine detail of control of L, RGB, R, G & B. However, there will be time you may need it. in that case, i'd go with Joseph's recommendation and get Polarr. Currently $0.99 at Mac App Store! (Polarr $0.99 Mac App Store. 95% off for another day)
2.) Split Tone. I previously explained it but if you want an adjustment that's labelled “Split Tone”, get Polarr on the Mac App Store ($0.99 until 4/24).
3.) Lens Correction. This is automatic for most lenses, however there may be sittuation where you need it. get Polarr at the Mac App Store ($0.99).
Some tools missing you for your adjustment:
1) Adjustment brushes. Rumored to be coming to Photos in next release.
2) Gradiant filter. get Polarr at the Mac App Store while it's still $0.99!!!!
3) Radial Filter. get Polarr at the Mac App Store.
4) Targeted Adjustment. Get Nik Collection. the control point work a lot better in my opinion. Quite honest, in my opinion, doing any effects, adjustments, B&W, I like Nik Collection better.
My plan is to move from Aperture to Photos because Photos is native to iOS and i do not want to have 2 system that are incompatible. I could use PowerPhotos to import and export libraries. I also will use an app called External Editors for Photos which allow me to use any editors from the extensions. it's $0.99 on the Mac App Store. I plan to use Affinity Photo when necessary which is rare because Photos is good enough for me 99% of the time.
Plus, i want to be able to upload & edit raw (still can't do do) to an iPhone or iPad while in the field so i can edit while i'm still look at what i'm shooting. My goal is to move my entire workflow to iOS!!!

And a fun new (free) Photos extension, Filters for Photos by Macphun. It does have brushes, masking for selective application as well. Check it out here.

There is a Definition slider, but I can't attest to how it compares to Aperture's.

Thank you, I see it now. I am also wondering if you can adjust the white points like you can the blacks.
