I am preparing about 60 images for printing at A1 and A2 size on 3mm plastic board for an outdoor exhibition.
The prints are being made by a specialist printer not by me, whose printer has a large flat table that feeds the plastic boards through.
I asked them what files they need from me to make the prints and this is what they said:
“file size is up to you, but one only needs a huge file when printing super large. 4mb files would work best. Files can be jpeg, tiff etc, but best as a flattened PDF with all layers flattened and colour profiles embedded with image dimensions.”
I cannot relate that PDF file requirement to the output options I can see in Aperture and since I very rarely print anything it is not an area that I am especially adept in. Does anyone have any ideas how to get Aperture to produce what they are asking for?
It sounds to me like they meant .psd (photoshop files) flattened with an embedded color profile preferred by your printer and exported as a PDF.
Aperture won’t export a .psd file. Almost all print houses work from .tiff files or .jpg’s and Aperture will allow you those options.
To create a PDF start your print routine and select save as PDF from your printer menu.
