I use Aperture 2.1.1. 3F1 and each time I have opened it up for use, the images keep loading endlessly. I have left it open for 5-10 minutes each time, clicked on different images, and still the images are loading. I have researched around online and some people say it could be that there is not enough processing power, however I am using a brand new Macbook Pro.

Listed below are the specs for my Macbook Pro and Images of Aperture running on Laptop:

- 2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 with 3MB L3 cache (Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz)
- 8GB of 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
- 256GB of Flash Storage
- Intel Iris Graphics
- OS X 10.9.1 (13B3116)

How many images are loading?  In preference turn off Previews for now.  If what you are seeing is previews loading this can take hours not minutes.   Try starting by holding the shift key when starting AP.  this will stop previews from loading for term.  Ive let mine go for 18 hours till it finished.  cheers

Okay, well I downloaded the updated version of Aperture (2.1.4) and that is no longer a problem for me. However, now about half of my Images in the Viewer no longer show a preview and are completely black…..I am at a complete loss.

Aperture 2.1.4 is many years out of date. What version of OS X are you running? If you can get up to Mavericks, you may find that Aperture 3.5.1 is a free upgrade for you. Even if it is not free, it would be well worth the $80 price tag to get current.
