Lost Aperture Originals? #1

Hi,

I’ve tried the Apple support forums as well as a few others and haven’t had any luck. While I’m not necessarily expecting people to tell me I can get these originals back, I’d like to know how it effects me as far as sharing/printing/etc.  I had a few problems with my 2011 MBP and ended up with a new hard drive. Awesome, got everything back from a Time Machine Backup, life is good. However, when moving around the reference files for 2500 pictures in Aperture from one external HD to another, things got weird.

I DID use File>Relocate Originals in Aperture, but somehow along the way 971 of my originals have gone missing. Previews are fine in Aperture, no problem. So my question is, can I get these originals back? Most were NEF/RAWs, but a few original JPGs in there too. All of these pictures are on Flickr as well. Is there any way to get them back, given the previews/Flickr are still fine?

Or, does it really matter? As long as the previews/Flickr work (so I can share them), is there no reason to freak out about not having the originals?

Well I’ll try.  When you say 971 went missing….. you know that How?  Did you do a smart album for all missing or offline images?  When you used Relocate originals to another HD  that Hd is now connected but the images are not there?  Could it be they are still Managed?  Could another Hd have been connected and they went there by accident?

Let us know   cheers  dbm
