I recently purchased lyve home to be able to access all my photos on the go. Lyve app allows you to synchronize the iPhoto library with its structure. I assumed that I could just open my aperture library within iPhoto and everything would be great. Not so simple. Even though apple claims that the libraries are unified they are not identical,I.e. They are inherently different and that is why I can’t trick lyve to think that my aperture library is really an iPhoto library. Any thoughts or ideas?
Yes they are different. They have different file extensions. Aperture library names end with .aplibrary while iPhoto library names end with .photolibrary
There’s probably other differences internally but I don’t know what they are.
The Finder uses the extension to determine which app to open the library with when you double-click it in the Finder.
You could try editing the file extension from .aplibrary to .photolibrary to see if it makes any difference. I don’t know if it will solve the problem - it’s only an idea.
You can view and edit the file extension in a Finder Get Info dialog.
