Merging libraries not work as I think it should #1

Hi everyone

Here is my question. (NB all libraries are managed).

I have a library for a wedding on my imac. I then copy it to my macbook pro to do some star ratings while watching the tv. I then copy the library back to my imac and then merge the two libraries together. The conflict dialog box pops up and I choose the library from the macbook pro as the master library. But i’m finding that none of the star data is being copied over to the new merged library??

Any ideas guys?

Thanks for your help in advance!

ps. I bought the 023 video on Multiple Mac Workflow to se if I had missed something.

If the library is managed, and you have made no changes on the iMac copy, delete the iMac copy and just copy the MBP version to the iMac. One of the wonderful traits of the managed library is that it is completely portable. Just like when you copied it to the MBP, copy it back and replace the iMac copy. No need to merge them.

Now… if only there was some way of managing metadata on your library via the cloud on your iPad. Fingers crossed!
