Hi,
Yesterday, I attended a photo course (for underwater photography) and someone showed me a nice method to get rid of the backscatter regularly found on photos shot in local lakes.
The “method” was shown in Photoshop and consisted of creating a copy of the photo and overlaying it on the original one with a small change of position. It was marked to have dark items overlay the lighter ones.
Obviously, the main subject of the photo would then have some kind of a “shadow”, but that was removed by wiping the overlaid image from the original subject.
Is this method also somehow possible in Aperture?

You’re going to need a plug-in or external editor. I would suggest checking out Perfect Layers from OnOne Software. I haven’t used it but you can download and try it.
