i have a big aperture vault stored on an external hd.
my current aperture library is stored on my internal hd.
what happens when i go to restore my vault from the external drive?
does aperture close existing library on internal hd and create a full aperture library on external hd?
just wanted to make sure before i open the vault since it is huge at 691gb and i dont want to crash/ corrupt my cpu.

When you restore from a vault, technically what happens is Aperture copies the vault (I don’t recall if you have a choice of where, to be honest) and then converts that to a Library. You should read some recent discoveries on Vaults on this article, “Aperture Vault’s File Extension Secret”.
You will need considerable space to recover a vault that large — probably double the size of the Vault itself.
