Just moved my “original” Aperture library (1.5 TB) to an external hard drive. Made sure everything copied properly, performed backup & then trashed library on internal drive. I only got back about 800 GB of space on my internal drive (about half of what I expected) even though library size was 1.5 TB. Doesn't sound right to me. Is this normal?
John,
Forgive me for asking a terribly obvious question, but you did empty the trash, didn’t you?
Assuming so, then that is truly odd. Sounds like maybe your internal drive needs some maintenance as it may be mis-reporting drives space. Perhaps a defrag (unless it’s an SSD, you can NOT defrag an SSD) is in order. Or to be über clean, move everything off, reformat and reinstall. Of course if we’re talking about the OS drive that’s easier said than done…
