Splitting Projects in Aperture vs iPhoto Events? #1

Hi again… in iPhoto I was able to select photos in an Event, hit the S key, and the selected photos would split apart and form their own Event. I can't figure out how to do this in Aperture. Is it even possible to split one Project into two or more?

I'm getting the impression that almost everything organizational that I want to do with Projects has to be done in the left sidebar in Library mode. This is probably where the biggest learning curve has been for me in making the switch.

Thanks, Debbie

Debbie,

I spend very little time in the Project view, but as far as I know, you can not split a project in the Project view.

Yes, all that work is meant to be done in the Library list, which gives you many more options, such as folders and project-specific albums.

To split a project from the project view:
1. Select the photos that you want to split out.
2. Select New->Project under the File menu.
3. The dialog box for naming the new project has a checkbox: “Move selected items to new project”. Simply check that box and hit [OK]
