I've been using Aperture my own way, pretty much self taught, for a number of years. I asked a trainer at the local Apple store for a list of the suggested adjustment sequence for “most” images after import and he gave me this: Levels > Exposure > Enhance > White Balance > Straighten >Edge Sharpen.
Others have placed Black Point high up in the sequence.
I could believe that doing certain things before others may improve the “interaction” between the various adjustments. If that's true, what do you do for best effect ? Are there other adjustments that are a “must” for you in addition to the ones listed above ?
After the “basic” work in Aperture I do use the full NIK collection and Photo Shop Elements for something Aperture and NIK can't do - lens correction for building “straightening” in architectural shots.
Thank you very much
Bob
The order you do it doesn’t matter so much to the results. In fact Aperture applies the adjustments in the order you see them in adjustment pane no matter in what order you make the adjustments. That is why you cannot change the order of the adjustment bricks in the adjustment pane.
What you do prior to exporting to a plug-in or external editor does matter though because Aperture “bakes in” the adjustments to the TIFF or PDF file before sending it to the external editor/plug-in.

Thank you. That makes sense and relieves me of the burden of concerning myself with the order in which I make adjustments.
